About ASK NEPAL
ASK-Nepal is one of the leading non-governmental organizations in Nepal. It was registered in the Syangja district in 2054 BS under the Organization Registration Act 2035. It is also registered in the Social Welfare Council and the NGO Federation Nepal and affiliated with more than 21 networks/like-minded organizations. The organization has been involved in different activities such as advocacy, governance and democracy, conflict management, different types of awareness training on forests and biodiversity, animal health, sustainable farming & other conservation/development activities. ASK-Nepal has successfully assisted communities in settlement-level planning and supported annual plans in the working area. Its works are based on rights-based and participatory approaches and act upon equal and active participation of women and socially excluded groups, especially indigenous nationalities such as Gurung and Tamang. It focuses on rural & sustainable farming technology, utilizing locally available resources at the farm level, and commercial farming systems, including marketing. It has also been working on environmental sanitation, conservation of biodiversity, and climate change adaptation (assessment and capacity building).
ASK Nepal has experience in mobilizing farmers in conservation, climate change adaptation (assessment and capacity building), integrated pest management, varietal trials, and farmer field school (FFS). With field-level experiences and increased beneficiaries’ trust and capacity, it reoriented itself to social aspects too and registered as a local NGO with deep roots in agriculture and biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation. More than 70% of its budget is allocated to climate change adaptation related activities focusing on soil and water management. ASK’s vision is to change the dignified lives of marginalized and socially excluded groups through the exercise of rights, advocacy, good governance, environmental sanitation, promotion of biodiversity, and an improved farming system using local resources. Through this mission, ASK has developed the vision for 2030, which is joint action for sustainable development and educational background for poverty reduction, basic rights for building peace, and a dignified society.
ASK Nepal is planned to partner with international development agencies, government agencies, civil society organizations, and community-based organizations for fund collection and mobilization through community groups such as users, mother groups, youth clubs, and village groups and special support to marginalized and disadvantaged people (ultra-poor, Dalits, women, and children) for capacity building. The ongoing projects are mainly focused on the promotion of organic agriculture, governance and democracy, livelihood improvement, and biodiversity and ecosystem conservation in relation to climate change adaptation.
In 2017 ASK was chosen among 15 best organizations active in climate change adaptation and awarded by national and international agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Women, UKAID/DFID, and CARE Nepal. The government has awarded NRs 50,000, and UKAID/DFID has awarded GBP 10,000 for its outstanding work in climate change. Likewise, ASK Nepal won the Everest Climate Action Award 2080 from the Youth Council Nepal and the fourth Panchase Conservation Award 2080 with a cash prize of NPR 25000 from MDO.

Our GOAL
To improve the living standard (social, economic, and cultural) of poor and socially excluded farmers, create balance in the environment and conserve biodiversity, utilize human resources, and increase the rate of production in non-agriculture through the development of human resources and management of natural resources.

- Coordination and combined work with NGOs, cooperatives, and other organizations for management of resources, materials, and technology to motivate disadvantaged groups through a rights-based approach.

Strategy
Guiding Principle
Based on a rights-based approach and through advocacy for governance and social accountability, ASK has established the basic needs of deprived communities as rights to access and control over local resources and technology. As a result, deprived Dalit women, adolescent girls, and children in these communities who are facing hardship in lives and livelihoods are engaged in community-based networks for improvement in climate and technology-friendly lifestyles. To fulfill this very principle and approach and for resource collection and efficient mobilization, the following strategies are followed.
Fund collection strategy
- Partnership with international development agencies like CICED, TRIANGLE, CARE, USAID, IUCN, and Helvetas through proposals for program implementation.
- Partnership with government agencies such as municipalities; the District Coordination Committee; district line agencies such as agriculture, animal development, forests, soil conservation, and watershed management; and ministries of those line agencies.
- Partnership with civil society organizations and community-based organizations such as saving and credit cooperatives, community forest user groups, and different subjective groups.
Fund disbursement strategy:
